Our Starting Point

In the summer of 2025, a group of Hongkongers living in Canada came together with one goal: to create a festival by Hongkongers.

But this didn’t happen overnight.

We've been preparing for this festival for over two years—from forming teams and designing the tournament format, to securing the venue and building partnerships with performers and vendors. Every step has been powered by volunteers and community passion, with one goal in mind: to create a festival that truly belongs to Hongkongers.

The result is the Mississauga Hong Kong Festival, anchored by the World Kong Cup—a 7-a-side football tournament infused with Hong Kong spirit and open to multicultural teams from across Canada and abroad.

Why We Need Your Help

We lost our major sponsor due to sudden tariff complications. As a first-year event, this loss has left a critical gap in funding just as everything was coming together.

We’ve already booked Paramount Fine Foods Centre Sportsplex, confirmed teams from across the Hong Kong diaspora, and brought together local businesses, artists, and volunteers. We’re almost there—but we need your support to make it happen.
